Model Railway Plan

The basic layout plan is:

The plan is compact and provides a lot of operational scope. The 3 stations mean that a scheduled timetable can be drawn up, and as they are all through stations, the direction can be varied. The 'fiddle area' in the centre can be used to build up freight trains destined for the different freight terminii.

Protoypical length trains obviously cannot be run, so the layout uses 'minimalist' trains. The motive power is steam outline, but a period has not been selected. Diesel and electric outline trains are both likely, especially with the passenger services.

The locomotive depot has not been fully planned yet.

Operation of the layout is intended to be classic DC, but DCC may be adopted at some stage.
